This week, I'll be featuring newer Weblogs of interest that I have added to my blogroll.
The first Weblog is from the Capital District's own Renaissance man Warren Redlich (see his blog Albany Lawyer). Warren has created a new Weblog on Daniel Cady and features letters Cady wrote from 1812 to 1855, almost all of which were to Peter Smith (his brother-in-law) and Gerrit Smith (Peter's son, Cady's nephew, and a prominent abolitionist). We are fortunate that Warren has decided to share his research with us.
Cady became a lawyer during George Washington's presidency, and in his later years was involved in a case with Abraham Lincoln. In between that time period, he tried cases with Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton, served in the New York State Assembly and United States Congress, served on Supreme Court of New York from 1847-1855, and even did a year on the New York Court of Appeals.
Daniel Cady is perhaps best known because his daughter was Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
